  1. DWBI – What drives it According to Gartner, Inc., the average enterprise has 14 different databases and spends 60 to 70 percent of its application development creating ways to access that data. Financial services companies have more, and their demands are greater. They also require the ability to combine real-time data with information they should already know to make real-time decisions. According to Gartner, the “big four” now own two-thirds of the BI market. Gartner Research Director Kurt Schlegel writes that, “The consolidation in the market has not simplified vendor selection decisions; if anything, it has made them more complicated because the acquisitions have thrown many existing product road maps into confusion. These acquisitions have also caused the mega-vendors to focus on product integration versus BI innovation - as they watch the TCO and time-to-value of their BI solutions go down the drain.
