Terrorism • The systematic use of violence by a group in order to intimidate a population or coerce a government into granting its demands • Term is applied to actions of groups outside of governments, but some governments provide funding for terrorist groups • Terrorism is different from political violence and assassinations—targets ordinary people • Political violence: How many U.S. presidents have been assassinated?
