What’s this course about? • This course will prepare you for the technology you use in middle school, high school and beyond • Since some of that technology has not been invented yet, I aim to teach you how to learn to use new software and other tools
Rules for the Start of Class • DON’T open the computers until told to do so! • Be on time! I will start most classes with instructions for the day, and you’ll miss them if you’re late! • Please ask questions after instructions • Don’t cross in front of the projector (anytime)! • Don’t leave the room without checking with me
Big Five Rules (anytime) • Don’t Interrupt when I (or anyone else) is speaking • Be Patient when asking for help, and try to solve your problem while you’re waiting • Follow Directions and re-read them when you have a problem • Always Give Your Best Effort • Have Fun

Logging in to the computer • When you turn on the computer, log into it: • User name: student • Password: student • When using the student/student log in, DO NOT change anything about the desktop • On the next slide I’ll show you how to log in under your own name
Logging in With Your Own Name • Use the first two letters of your first name and your last name: • User name: josmith • Password: <student ID number> • For this year only, you can save documents when logged in as yourself.
