Ethics • Due to widespread misrepresentation on applications and resumes, companies have become increasingly skeptical • Many companies double-check to make sure candidates are not lying • Exaggerating on your application or resume is wrong; it leads an employer to believe you are something you are not

  3. Ethics • It is to your advantage to be truthful in your resume even if many people are not; don’t jump on the bandwagon! • If your employer finds out that you have given false information, you may be dismissed from the job

  4. Ethics Example • A former CEO of a chain of consumer electronics stores said he received degrees in theology and psychology from a private California college • An investigation ensued and the college reported that the CEO completed only 2 semesters and did not graduate from the school • The CEO who worked for the company for 10 years was forced to resign
