bloch.umkc.edu Our Home - UMKC ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY of MISSOURI-KANSAS CITY • The Bloch School is part of the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), a public teaching and research university that is home to 12 other schools. • UMKC is one of four universities within the UM (University of Missouri) system. • UMKC enrolls 14,400 students from all 50 states and 62 countries around the world. • UMKC has eight sororities, nine fraternities and more than 300 student organizations. • UMKC has three new state-of-the art residence halls on campus. • UMKC offers 16 NCAA Division I sports teams and recently added a brand new soccer stadium.
bloch.umkc.edu Our Home (continued) SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES at UMKC • College of Arts & Sciences: A&Sis the original school of the University and is now the largest on campus, housing humanities, natural sciences and social sciences departments. • Conservatory of Music and Dance: The Conservatory has earned national and international recognition through its innovative programming that advances the arts and creative expression as fundamental to fulfilled lives. • School of Biological Sciences: Students can choose a bachelor’s of science in biology, a bachelor’s of art in biology or a bachelor’s of science in medical technology. • School of Computing and Engineering: SCEoffers students exposure to the latest computing and engineering trends in computer science, electrical, civil and mechanical engineering, split into two departments - the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering.

The School’s state-of-the-art dental clinic allows students to apply their skills to the community during third and fourth year. • School of Education: The school offers a variety of disciplines, outstanding faculty and a partnership with the Kansas City Missouri School District to prepare teachers to succeed in diverse urban settings. • School of Law: The only law school in Kansas City, the school provides challenging and rewarding legal education both inside and outside the classroom. • School of Medicine: In six years, medical students can attend class year round and earn their B.A./M.D. degrees through innovative curriculum. The School’s faculty offers a strong core education in M.D. training through course study and clinical skills and research.

The School offers students an environment rich in opportunities for practice and professional development through clinical practice, community service and nursing research. • School of Pharmacy: The only public school of pharmacy in Missouri, the School of Pharmacy has offered the best pharmacy education, with outstanding professional and graduate programs and pharmaceutical research, for 120 years. • School of Graduate Studies: The School of Graduate Studies provides students outstanding training and education in more than 50 post-graduate degrees. • University Libraries: With five total libraries, University Libraries are Kansas City’s comprehensive public research libraries.

bloch.umkc.edu Investing in Our Future • In September 2011, the Bloch School received a $32 million gift, the largest outright in UMKC history, from its namesake, Henry W. bloch.umkc.edu Ranked Top in the World • In fall 2011, an article in the Journal of Product Innovation Management produced a ranking list entitled “Perspective: Ranking of the World’s Top Innovation Management Scholars and Universities.” This is the first time the journal has ranked universities, as opposed to just the scholars themselves, for their research productivity in this area. • Among the top 10 universities ranked were MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Michigan State, Texas A&M, University of Pennsylvania and more. • UMKC exceeded them all as the No. 1 innovation management universitythanks to the research produced by the Bloch School’s Department of Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Lewis White Real Estate Center Bringing the art and science of real estate to life, the Lewis White Real Estate Center (housed within IEI) is the only comprehensive center for formal real estate education in the Kansas City area. The Center provides a strong hands on learning experience in Kansas City’s urban laboratory L.P. Cookingham Institute of Urban Affairs Welcome to the L.P. Cookingham Institute of Urban Affairs at the UMKC Henry W. Bloch School of Management. Part of the Bloch School's Department of Public Affairs, the Institute supports research and teaching directed at improving our understanding of the factors affecting the fiscal and social sustainability of urban regions.
Centers and Institutes (continued) Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership MCNL is a leading nonprofit academic center with an extensive array of community-based programs and services. The Center applies the resources and talents of the University and community to the challenges facing the nonprofit sector. In 2011, the Center celebrated their 20 year anniversary. Regnier Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation The Regnier Institute inspires and nurtures entrepreneurs and innovators through transformational education and research. Its experiential learning programs give every student on campus the opportunity to start and grow a business before graduation.
