Facebook: Despite what you may think of the challenges faced by Facebook, it is still the biggest and most active social media platform in the world with over 2 billion active users monthly(source: Sprout Social). Its one of the most versatile platforms allowing for a range of different types of posts from offers through to video based posts. Video is a massive part of engaging with people with your brand and building communities of loyal fans with over 8 billion video views a day (source: DIGIDAY). So, it is worth considering mixing up you posts regularly with video as a core part of your strategy when crafting your business and product pages. Cover Photo: 820 x 312 px Profile Image: 180 x 180px 820 x 312 • Image Guidelines • Appears on your page at 843 x 504 pixels • Anything less gets stretched. • Minimum size of 400 x 150 pixels • Smartphones display as 640 x 360px • RGB JPEG less than 100kb produce best results • Image featuring logo or text are better as .PNG files 180 x 180 • Image guidelines: • Must be 180 x 180 pixels. • Photo will appear as 170 x 170 pixels • Thumbnail will appear across Facebook at • 32 x 32pixels • 128 x 128px smartphones • This photo can represent your brand on Facebook.   4. Twitter: Twitter is a highly important platform for communicating current events, videos, images and stories as quickly as possible. Over 500 million tweets are sent each day with 5,787 tweets sent every second, at least that’s what Twitter claimed in 2014 (source: Twitter). We don’t know if that figure has increased but it still is an impressive number when communicating your brand or product messages. Given that most people get their news from social media especially twitter, it makes it the perfect place to distribute brand and product blogs out to the people and quickly.   5. LinkedIn: LinkedIn is a social network designed for professional networking and developing business to business connections. The professional social network was actually developed and launch before Facebook became the powerhouse it is today. LinkedIn while not at the same level as Facebook, still has value and continues to grow with 610 million registered users (source: Wikipedia) and new features being added such as direct upload video and more. The changes have seen LinkedIn grow and now boasts approximately 260 million active monthly users (LinkedIn doesn’t release these figures). With that in mind there is a great potential in developing your LinkedIn presence to attract new business and client as well as potential new employees too.   8. Instagram and IGTV: Seven year ago, Facebook purchases photo sharing app Instagram for a cool $1 billion. At the time it had 30 million users with 5 million photos being uploaded every day (source: BBC). Fast forward to today and Instagram has grown to over a billion monthly active users. New features such as video, live broadcasting, GIFs, direct messaging, interactivity, IGTV has also contributed to the successful growth of Instagram as a platform. For brands it has been a successful way to promote their business, services and products directly to followers. A recent update has even allowed businesses and brand to now open an online Instagram story allowing for direct sales to followers. With a focus on younger audiences, Instagram continues to grow and is something you should definitely consider for your social media strategy. . Profile Image: 110 x 100 Image Guidelines: Thumbnails are displayed at 161 x 161px on the page.   9. YouTube: It’s more than likely that you have heard about YouTube or used it at some point. What you may not know however is that despite focusing on video content, YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world, only surpassed by fellow alphabet company Google. YouTube has 1.9 Billion user who are logged in every month. More impressively, every day more than 1 billion hours of video is watched and viewed (source: YouTube). With YouTube being available in more than 91 countries and 70% of YouTube watch time coming from mobile devices, its vital to ensure that you are using this platform to maximise your video content for your business and products. 2560 x 1440 Channel Profile: 800 x 800 Channel Cover Photo: 2560 x 1440 • Image Guidelines: • Recommended that you us an image • 800 x 800px. • Displays at 98 x 98px • Image types include JPG, GIF, BMP and PNG • Display sizes for various devices and platforms: • Tablet display – 1,855 x 423 • Mobile Display – 1,546 x 423 • TV Display – 2569 x 1440 • Desktop – 2560 x 423 (safe area of 1,546 x 423 pixels which are always visible.) • Ensure you have 507 px to the left and 507 pixels to right of the designated safe area of the image. Video uploads: 1280 x 720 1280 x 720 Video Guidelines: Videos must have a 16:9 aspect ratio. To display video as full HD it must be at least 1280 x 720 when uploaded.

  10. Snap Chat: Despite Instagram’s meteoric growth, snap Chat continues to be a key platform for brands. There are 191 million daily active users on Snap Chat (source: Snap Chat). Snap Chat users spend around 30 minutes a day using the app and collectively generate 3 billion snaps per day (source: Variety). A majority of Snap Chats users fall within the younger demographics and it could provide a vital tool in building brand and product communities from a much earlier age. This does present a challenge in crafting more modernised and engaging stories for your business, brands and products but the potential rewards are definitely worth considering. Geofilter: 1080 x 1920 Image Guidelines: All photos taken in the app are 1080 x 1920. If you are crafting customer geo-filters, they must be created with this size in mind to be applied properly on any photos taken within the app. Dimensions are the same for video used within the app. 1080 x 1920

  11. Pintrest: Pintrest is a visual based social media network that allows people to share images for a range of purposes. Pintrest is essentially a web-based pinboard/bulletin board. As a result, it is perfect for collating projects, goods, services, new interests using visuals. It also features interaction tools for users which allows them to like, comment, save other people pins and private message each other. For brands it a perfect way to show case their products, concepts and can even direct customers to purchasing the products and services. Pintrest is continuing to grow with 250 million active monthly users and 175 billion Pins with style ideas, art, love and DIY project-based pins seeing massive increases in interest. As a result, its important to make sure that images and photos used match the criteria perfectly. • The top image should be the one you want to entice your audience with but must also be relevant to the theme of the board 220 x 150 Thumbnails: 50 x 50

  13. Tumblr: Tumblr is a micro-blogging and social networking platform all rolled into one. May underestimate the value of Tumblr to their business but there is an opportunity to utilise the platform. To date 171.3 billion posts have been published on Tumblr with an average of 2.1 billion posts published monthly. Approximately 466.1 million blogs exist with around 2.8 million new blogs created each month. The platform is perfect for those looking to build their blogging presence with out setting up dedicated blogging pages or websites. Given the nature of Tumblr, it is also a perfect place to post out of hour content given that Tumblr see most of its activity between 5pm and 1am. (source: unwrapping tumblr). It will also appear next to the buttons so people can follow you on Tumblr when someone visits your page. • Profile photos will appear else where on your Tumblr page depending on the theme and design you have chosen. • Themes have an impact on the size of your profile image. It may be wise to submit a larger image but be aware of any restrictions and minimum size guidelines. Ensure that the image fits your brand and the page layout. Image Guidelines: Dash Images have a maximum size of 1280 x 1920 but will display in feeds at 500 x 750 Images should not exceed 10 MB Animated GIFS must be under 1MB and have a maximum of 500 px. 500 x 750
