  1. Glass cutting does not need to be difficult and with a little knowledge and work on your part, the job will go smoothly. The first thing you need to do is set up your work area. Preparation can make any job a little easier! Clean the glass surface in the same area where you plan to make the cuts. Get a glass cutter and some light oil (look for specialty oil specifically designed for glass cutting). Measure and then mark where you want to score, but take your time here, you do not want to ruin a perfectly good piece of glass. Scoring the glass is the next step. The scoring makes a split in the surface of the glass, which encourages the glass to break along the score. Dip your cutter in the oil and grasp it like a pencil, then lay out a straight edge. Next, apply pressure to the glass and pull the cutter along the surface of the glass. Rolling right along on the small carbide wheel. Smoothly run the cutter from one edge to the other, right along the glass where you desire to cut it. Check your score and see if it worked the way you would have hoped it would. The next step is breaking and smoothing the glass. Grasp each side of the cut carefully in both of your hands. glass cutting Apply minor pressure from your wrist to break the glass along the score. Next to ensure the glass will not easily cut people, you’ll want to use fine sandpaper or a sharpening stone to remove the sharp edge left over. If you need to cut on a curve, follow a pattern that connects to the edge of the glass. Use several straight lines to cut a sharp curve in the glass. Then, flip the glass over and gently press on the center of your score from the backside. To get the curved edge to the glass that you are looking for, make some relief cuts to remove small pieces at a time instead of all at once. Then, you will want to smooth out the curved edges with a glass router.
