State Advocacy • Most significant achievement to date: Adaptation Action Areas – 2011 session • Tri-County Legislative Delegation Meeting on Sea Level Rise – Feb. 2013 • 2014 package • Approved by Staff Steering Committee • Awaiting adoption by County Commissions
Adaptation Action Areas • Added to Florida Community Planning Act in 2011 session • Optional comprehensive plan designation for areas that: • Experience coastal flooding • Are vulnerable to the related impacts of rising sea levels • Purpose: prioritizing funding for infrastructure and adaptation planning
AAA Pilot Program • Funded by grant from State of Florida (DEO) – Project of Special Merit • Partnership among City of Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, and the South Florida Regional Planning Council • Fort Lauderdale will incorporate in its Comprehensive Plan and identify AAA(s) • Guidance documents will be developed for statewide dissemination

RCAP Implementation Workshops • Part of three-year, $975,000 grant from Kresge Foundation to Institute for Sustainable Communities to support RCAP implementation • 9 to 12 workshops over three years
