  5. El matador Always wears “el traje de luces” or suit of lights. Enters ring first to test bull and try various passes with his “capote” or cape.

  6. El picador Attempts to stab bull on neck muscle. Helps lower bull’s horns and focus/anger bull.

  7. Las banderillas 3 men each trying to put 2 barbed sticks (banderillas) into bull. Anger and weaken bull further

  8. La estocada The matador attracts bull with cape to wear bull down and show his skill He will kill bull with his “estoque” or steel sword by thrusting it between the bull’s shoulders and through its heart

  9. Al final To show their appreciation for the fight the crowd will wave white handkerchiefs and yell “¡Ole!” If the matador has been particularly good, he will receive one or both of the bulls ears
