  4. Indonesia is the largest archipelago ( a group of islands ) in the world. There are total number of 17,508 islands of which about 6000 are inhabited.

  5. Size and Population • Total land area is 1,919,440 square kilometers ( 741,096 square miles ), or about three times the size of Texas. • An additional 3.2 million square kilometers ( 1,235,520 square miles ) of ocean is within Indonesia’s borders. • The last official census recording the population of Indonesia took place in 2010 and it showed that there were 237,424,363 people living on its 17,508 Islands.
