  2. Learning objective – to be able to identify the key features of a medieval village. I can describe the features of a medieval village. Levels 3 and 4 I can explain at least two features of a medieval village. Level 5 I can explain and plan a medieval village. Level 6

  3. Describe and draw a medieval village Get into pairs – each give yourself a letter A and B. I need one or two Learning Spies – any volunteers? All the A people are going to be the describers. All the B people are going to be the drawers. Outside the classroom are 8 copies of a diagram of a medieval village. All the A people will go outside and have a look at the diagram 5 times. Their job is to report to the B people what the medieval village looks like. The B people’s job is to draw a medieval village based on A’s descriptions. The A people are not allowed to make any notes while looking at the diagram. Each look of the diagram will last one minute. Each drawing session will last one minute. The Learning Spy’s job is to check that there is no cheating!

  5. Mark your diagrams 1 mark for each correct feature [7 features] 1 mark for any drawn feature and strip fields with a label [8 marks] 1 mark for the church in the centre of the village. Total – 16 marks

  6. Design your own medieval village Based on what you have learnt so far this lesson, design your own medieval village which includes all the key features of a typical village. Where would you place your features? What would you call your village? How many people would your village cater for?

  7. Plenary learning grid – throw the dice and complete the plenary dependent on which number you throw
