Blogs • Allow you to make posts • Have limited space • Have limited html capabilities (if at all) • Are controlled by the host • Are viable means of keeping an audience up-to-date on a particular subject. • Are the basic content of the web. • Can be hosted under a domain name of your choice providing it is available
Websites: • Contrast these features with a website. The following website features are different from blogs. They: Do not make posts, but rather add the data to a page for viewing. • Are written in a code by the website designer educated in that code. • Have unlimited storage on multiple pages that can be viewed on one screen.
Websites: • Have almost no boundaries to what you can design or create to display. • Require server side scripting to perform more complex tasks. • Require hosting costs and sometimes costs hosting and creative costs
Who build a blog • Anyone can create a blog • Any topic can be a blog • Blogs can be free but advertisers can clog your blog • How do you select a blog site • By content, advertiser, space allocated and topic
Selecting a Blog Topic • As previously stated a blog can be about any topic. You will be placed into groups of like grades • 9th grade • 10th grade • 11th grade -12th grade • Your assignment will be to create a blog page
How will we be graded • Creative content: • All blogs/web pages begin with sketches or designs of content • You can only use pictures you gain consent forms to use! Without consent form signed by adults no pictures will be uploaded. • Content my include: hobbies, school activities, pets, friends family, etc. Be creative.
How will we be graded • Layout 30% • Textures 5% • Color 5% • Layout 20% • Visual appeal 40% • Group work 10% • Total =100 points assigned per group.
