  8. Who Decides? • When to start studying for the Calculus Final? • When to work on that report for Communications? • If you should take on a part time job? CLASS TIME: (at most) 23 hour/week HOURS IN WEEK: 24 x 7 = 168 hours total TIME FOR WORK: 168 - 23 = 145 hours/week • Whether you receive grade of A+ or F? • 168 HOURS IN WEEK • - 23 -- in class • - 2 x 23 -- study: 2 hours (min) per class hour • - 7 x 7 -- sleeping • - 21 x 1 -- meals • - 7 x 2 -- shower, dress, transportation • - 7 x 2 -- email, phone, twitter/LinkedIn, etc • TIME FOR WORK = 1 hour YOU !!!

  11. Learning Requires . . . . Repetition, discussion, practice • Create a study group • Make sure everyone in the group can do everything • Never put your name on something that you did not do • Attend instructor office hours / Go to Help Desks • Introduce yourself and talk about the course • If you don't have a question, just come and listen • Do homework that is assigned • Make sure you can do anything (not just the questions that were on the assignment.)

  12. Studying & Time Management • Plan your week • Schedule time for every course • Don't delay things that are difficult • Plan for the unexpected • After everything is done: Schedule in a little (not a lot of) fun time
