The Holocaust Step 1: • Shortly after taking power, Hitler ordered for all non-Aryans to be removed from government jobs. • Nuremburg laws (1939): Striped Jews of their citizenship, jobs, and property. -Forced to wear Star of David on their clothing.
Step 2: Kristallnachtor Night of Broken Glass: Nazi storm troopers attack Jewish homes, businesses, and synagogues. • Around 100 Jews killed, several hundred injured, and hundreds of synagogues burned. -Many Germanys felt sympathetic but publically kept quiet. -Nazi’s were attempting to quicken Jewish emigration from Germany. -Other countries refused to accept them (American Anti-Semitism).
Step 3: Forced Relocation • Jews isolated into ghettos – areas sealed off with barbed wire or walls. • Starvation and disease were so rampant that bodies piled up in the streets faster than they could be removed.

Step 4:Deportation to Camps • Jews moved to concentration camps in which they were forced to work and live under harsh conditions.
Facts • 11 million killed throughout Europe. -Around half were Jewish. The rest were: Gypsies, Freemasons, Jahovah’s Witnesses, homosexuals, the mentally deficient, mentally disabled, physically disabled, and the incurably ill.
