Curriculum Objectives • General Outcome 3.3: Students will listen, speak, read, write, view and represent to explore thoughts, ideas, feelings and experiences. • Specific Outcome: Making jot notes. • Specific Outcome: Experiment with several writing ways to focus on a topic.
Today’s Learning Objectives • Practice writing jot notes. • Review complete sentences. • Jot Notes Recipe activity.
Exercise #1- Making Jot Notes • Jot down as many words and directions as possible from the recipe that is read aloud.
Activity Turn to your shoulder partner and compare and discuss the jot notes that you took down. • Questions to consider: • What did your shoulder partner write down? • Did your shoulder partner write down different notes than you did?
Reviewing Complete Sentences What do we need to remember when writing complete sentences?
Complete Sentences • Use capital letters when needed. • Use proper punctuation. • Need to be complete sentences. • Subject- a person or thing being discussed. • Verb- a word describing an action. • They need to make sense to the reader.
Examples Jot NotesSentences -cut apples -The apples need to be cut up and then mixed in with the pears. -mixed with pears

Jot Notes Recipe Activity • With your shoulder partner practice taking jot notes. • One partner will read out their recipe while the other partner writes down the important key points and ingredients.
