Why do we use JUSP in Cardiff? • To obtain all available usage statistics for Subject Librarians to make informed decisions about cancelling or renewing subscriptions • JUSP is very helpful for obtaining SCONUL stats as the majority of the work has already been done for you
How do we use JUSP • We download all available JR1 and JR1a reports from JUSP • We then download all remaining publishers’ statistics that are not (yet) available from JUSP • We then collate reports into one large list showing titles, publishers and usage statistics for year (in Excel)
Each School has got its own yearly commitment list with prices paid. As there are 35 Schools, we have not got the time in Acquisitions to make a usage statistics list for each of the Schools, so we suggest the following to the Subject Librarians:
Take a copy of the current commitment list for your School • Insert two columns • Add number of downloads in first columns from our collated list which is available for all to see • Add formula to divide cost by number of downloads in second column
We have just started to add details on JUSP for our Deals and Core Titles. The information we can download with this facility is going to be very useful for making decisions on swapping ‘Core Titles’ and which titles to include in the deals.
How has JUSP helped us? • Saving time – all usage statistics in one place and easy to obtain. No searching around publisher’s websites to see where the Counter reports are hiding • Same format for all publishers – all reports available to download in CSV format
