Academic & Career Development • DATE: November 16, 2012 • SUBJECT: Marinello Schools of Beauty—Top Educator Presentation Skill Awards--2012 • YOU OUGHT TO BE ON FILM!!! And now you have the opportunity to present your “best teaching practices” as a top Marinello Schools of Beauty educator. • WHO CAN ENTER? • Any qualified full or part-time Marinello instructor for Cosmetology, Esthetics, Barbering or Massage Therapy programs.

  2. WHAT CAN I WIN?  First Place: A trip for two—3 nights all inclusive, to Oahu, Hawaii + publishing the video on our Media Center With instructor credits. Second Place: An Apple Mac Air computer + publishing the video on our Media Center with instructor credits. Third Place: An Apple iPad + publishing the video on our Media Center with instructor credits.

  3. WHAT ISIT? Educators-- put your best teaching forward in a video that depicts your best teaching methodology/ presentation for: Theory topic: General Sciences ex. Anatomy, Chemistry, Electricity, Diseases/Disorders Practical topic: Any Marinello Method Soft Skills/Customer Service/Business & Career Select any or all of the three categories. Only 1 submission per category. You can only win once.

  4. WHEN IS IT? Submissions are due by Monday, December 21st. To enter, submit a 5-minute to 8-minute video of you teaching your best lesson within the designated categories. You may submit a video for each major category (Theory, Practical, Soft Skills). You can only win once.

  5. HOW DO I DO IT? The video must be a recording of you teaching and will be judged by a committee on the following: Reference to the Program, Level, Day, Lesson—Theory; Practical; Soft Skills/Business & Career (entry Form is attached) Reference the Media Center material that supports the lesson Introduction to how this lesson relates to career, job, and real life experience How to start the class—Specific Learning Objectives for the lesson Explanation of the topic

  6. HOW DO I DO IT? (Continued) If it is a Demonstration—provide a step-by-step approach to the technique Demonstration of active learning strategies to engage all learners Correlation to “real professional life” experience Conclude the lesson Include a review and evaluation technique for the students to prove that all learning objectives were met

  7. HOW DO I SUBMIT? Coordinate with your REM to submit your video. They will be collecting submissions for each region to be sent in for review. Remember all material in the video must be your original footage, you may not use or add from outside sources. All videos become the property of Marinello Schools of Beauty and will not be returned. Videos may only be used by Marinello Schools of Beauty and should not be posted to any other social or network website, e.g. Facebook, StyleSeat, YouTube, etc.
