    4. Measurement Systems A foot represents the same distance everywhere in the US. A foot is a standard unit of length. Since everyone agrees on the value of a standard, they insure that measurements are consistent.

    18. Benefits of the Metric System In order for a measurement system to be useful everyone must agree on the standards that make it up. The more people that agree on those standards the better the system will be.
