  4. 1. WHOARE WE? • THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF NORTH EAST, MD. • Examples w/o a denominational title: • Connecting Church • Epic Community Church • Pathways Church • The Church at Riverside • Crossroads Bible Church • Five Rivers Church • Bay Church

  5. 2. WHATARE WE HERE FOR? • “The purpose of this church is to cultivate a visible, unified, community of committed believers in the Lord Jesus Christ…” • A. Cultivate. • John 15:1-8 “I am the vine you are the branches.” • 1 Cor. 3:9 “You are God’s field, God’s building.” • Matt. 13:1-9 “A farmer went out to sow his seed…other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop….”

  6. 2. WHAT? • B. Visible—a local church. • C. Unified---John 17:21 & 23 “I pray…that all of them may be one.” “May they be brought to complete unity…” • D. Community---Koinoneo. • E. Committed believers---the church is people. • F. In the Lord Jesus Christ.---”So that the world may believe…” Jn. 17:21

HOWDO WE DO WHAT WE ARE HERE TO DO? • A. “Through the proclamation of the Word of God…” • Rom. 10:17--- “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” • B. “In the power of the Holy Spirit.” • Acts 1:8--- “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.”

WHY DO WE DO WHAT WE DO? • A. “So that souls may be saved,” • B. “Saints be edified,” • Eph. 4:12--- “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

WHY? • “People everywhere may receive the tidings of God’s grace as seen in the shed blood of Calvary.” • ---Mark 16:15---”Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” • ---Acts 1:8--- “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

  11. 5. TO WHAT END? • “To the ultimate end that God will be glorified.” • Eph. 3:21--- “To him be glory in the church and Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
