  2. KEY PROBLEM Cardiac Society of Australian and New Zealand Guideline – Door to balloon time < 90 Minutes not met Partial service only Mortality risk (in hospital death) increases by 1% for every 30 minute delay

  3. AIM OF THIS INNOVATION To meet CSANZ door to balloon time target (< 90 minutes) for emergency STEMI patients by July 2012

KEY CHANGES IMPLEMENTED Collaborative team (RAV, MICA, ED,Cath Lab, Cardiologists, Anaesthetist, ICU, CCU) Response time monitoring via Data Warehouse reporting system accessible to all parties Rostering for sequential arrival of Cardiologist and staff STEMI pre-hospital notification initiated STEMI Management Clinical Pathway developed and published electronically

  8. OUTCOMES SO FAR Best practice DTBT is < 71 minutes (CSANZ)

LESSONS LEARNT Development of a collaborative interdisciplinary approach with protocols in place ensures sustainability of the clinical pathway for patients Ongoing data collection and monitoring identified problems for targeted remedial action Yearly review by all participants fosters ongoing co-operation and maintenance of an optimal service
