MMU All Saints South:Faculty of Humanities, Languages and Social Sciences:Geoffrey Manton Building& Mabel Tylecote Building MMUPrint Stage 3 Consultation Presentation
Introduction & Recap of MMUPrint at the Faculty of Humanities, Languages and Social Science: In April 2011, 5 MMUPrint Printers were installed across the buildings and then in Summer 2011, 11 more were installed for staff and student usage Each has the ability to print, photocopy & scan to email Since the installation we have monitored the usage and demand of the printers to help inform the next stage of the project.
What is Stage 3 of MMU Print? Stage 3 of the project involves replacing desktop printers with a higher number of MMU Printers This has already been successfully been rolled out at the new MMUBS/HUB… Geoffrey Manton and Mabel Tylecote Buildings will be rolled out towards the end of the Autumn Term.
How the plans were generated & what happens next.. The local IT Team created the first set of plans. They were translated into tabular form and worked through in meetings between the local IT Team Leader (John Haigh) and MMUPrint Project Manager (Dave Lee) Adjustments were made and the plans changed as required The local IT Team Leader will present the maps to the Faculty’s FEG to discuss the plans with the aim of obtaining feedback for changes or approval as they stand Once approved, the plans will then passed to the MMUPrint Project Sponsor Dr. Phil Range for final approval Roll-out is planned to commence in November and December as infrastructure installation permits (extra power and data sockets as required) Retrieval of staff desktop printers will commence early in 2013.
What do the maps show? The maps show each building and floor which will receive a new printer(s) Any building/floor not receiving a new printer has been left out Each printer is numbered in reference to the included table at the end of this document Each printer is represented by a coloured dot indicating its type (shown in a key on the table) Any existing printer staying in its current location or being moved to a new location to meet local needs, will be represented in a table at the end of this presentation as well as on a small note on each slide.

Appeals Process • Personal printers will no longer be permitted unless an Appeal is processed and accepted. • If you feel you should keep your current personal printer on disability grounds or a technical specialism, please download the Desktop Printer Exceptions Form from the MMUPrint Website http://www.mmu.ac.uk/mmuprint/ • Pass your completed form onto your direct Line Manager for their counter signature. Should they agree to your appeal, they should send it onto: • Pauline Ford – Faculty and Campus SAS (for all F/C SAS Staff Appeals) • Dr. Phil Range – LRIS (for all appeals for staff within LRIS) • Heather Wilson – Facilities (for all appeals for staff within Facilities) • Dr. Sharon Handley– Dean of Humanities, Languages and Social Science (for all Academic Staff Appeals) • The signed appeals will then be passed to Dr. Phil Range as MMUPrint Project Sponsor • The MMUPrint Project Board will review the appeals to see if a more suitable alternative solution is available. They will then get in touch directly with the appellant to agree a suitable solution.
What now? Once we have the approval of the plans from the delegates of the Directorate and Project Sponsor, the plans will be frozen for ordering of the printers, power sockets and network sockets as required. Plans will go online for all staff to access and comment upon as required The Appeals Process timings will be announced for those colleagues who feel they have a case to keep their current desktop printer We plan to roll-out the new printers this summer towards the end of November/December Desktop printers will be removed at some later date yet to be decided.
