MORAWA COMMUNITY • Population – 950 with reducing trend • Recently announced as one of WA Nationals' "SUPERTOWNS" with a share of five million dollars to be spent on planning, rejuvenating and expanding the town, and the opportunity to build our own unique identity. • Broad-acre agriculture based. • MEITA was established to re-focus importance on education as a corner-stone of our community’s future. • Strategic Plan established to set the course to secure Morawa's educational future. • A ‘Community Farm’ has been established on 500 acres of prime land in an agreement between the Shire of Morawa and Karara Mining Ltd for the fundraising purposes of local sporting and community groups.

INDUSTRY AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES • Morawa is in close proximity to new iron ore mines • Logical destination for labour, services & supplies • Industry skill shortage to result in mines partnering training bodies to secure labour • Morawa has the opportunity to offer a tailor made education stream to meet industry needs • MDHS / WACOAM to cooperatively deliver selected Year 11 / 12 courses • Mid West Regional Training Plan – DIT / MEITA

7. Hostel Accommodation 12 Hostel Beds are available to students from isolated areas in years 8 & 9 who wish to pursue secondary education at Morawa District High School at the Residential Hostel WACOA – Morawa

8. Karara Mining Limited Scholarships Scholarships are offered for Year 11 students, who are looking toward a career in mining and resources, and directing their studies towards a mechanical or electrical apprenticeship. The opportunity to gain a long-term career with KML. The offer of an apprenticeship with KML at the successful completion of Year 12. The scholarship will provide financial assistance up to the value of $8,000 per annum, depending on the student’s personal circumstances, for the payment of school fees.

ACHIEVEMENTS & SUCCESS • 2011 Regional & Agricultural Mining Industry Training Project – MEITA chosen as one of two regional locations Australia wide to trial a Federal Government pilot program to deliver cross industry training to the mining and agriculture sectors. • Morawa Community Resource Centre joins MEITA. • 2010- Successful in securing $3 million in Royalties for Regions (R4R) funding to expand student accommodation at WACOA – Morawa. • Funding for $1.3m Morawa Community & Business Enterprise Centre • 2010 Local Government Best Practice Award Winner of the Leadership & Innovation Award $2000 received from Commonwealth Bank

14. Establish KARARA Mining Ltd scholarship program for senior school students attending local schools in the region. ACHIEVMENTS & SUCCESS 2011 winner in the category -Best Regional Collaborations for Small Councils in the 2011 National Awards for Local Government.

15. $3.6 million upgrade to the trade training centre being established at the WACOAM • Introduction of aFootball Program for WA College of Agriculture – Morawa & the Morawa District High School in 2013.
