  3. Objectives The Study Abroad Scheme is funded by Community College of City University (CCCU). To provide an opportunity for students at a reputable institution (university or degree-granting college) in Australia, the UK, and US. The Scheme aims at: • Enhancing students’ English proficiency; and • Enriching students’ educational  and  personal experience through immersion in a different environment.

Australia University of Queensland Regarding the program format, our most popular program format offers 15 hours a week of English language classes as well as 1 half-day and 1 full-day cultural/tourist/academic activities per week. The half-day activities can include activities with Australian students studying at UQ, visits to the local zoo (Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary) city tours and visits to the museum, art gallery, etc. Half-day activities can also be used for academic lectures or company/industry site visits. The full day activities can include trips to North Stradbroke Island, Dream World, Sea World or Movie World on the Gold Coast, or longer academic activities. 13

Australia University of Queensland This program format provides a very good mix of English language enhancement, interaction with local and international students, a range of Australian cultural classes and lessons, and cultural/educational/tourist activities throughout Brisbane and South-East Queensland. Our programs are based on a minimum group size of 14 participants and a maximum of 18 participants per class. 14

UK University of Portsmouth (01) English Enhancement (20 hours of tuition) (02) Understanding British History (understanding British culture with lectures and video material) (03) Cultural Trip (historic cultural visits such as naval dockyards in Portsmouth, Arundel Castle etc) (04) Introduction to Study at Portsmouth (experience taster lectures from the undergraduate programs) (05) Student Project (working in small group, students will focus on aspects of British life and prepare video or web-based material to support the oral presentation of their findings in the final week) 18
