Ministry of Foreign Affairs(MFA) is responsible for coordination of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) Total volume of the ODA in 2005 (Bilateral + Multilateral): approx. CZK 3 billion / EUR 103 mil. ODA/GNI: 0,11 % (Govt. target: 0,13 % in 2009) Different line ministries (9) are responsible for development projects in their specific areas of interest (environmnent, health, education, social services, industrial development etc.) Development Centre of the Institute of International Relations is the main expert body of the MFA Development Centre Czech Development Cooperation

Development Centre Czech Development Cooperation Goals and Principles • International development cooperation constitutes an integral part of Czech foreign policy • The principal goal of the Czech development cooperation program is reduction of poverty in the developing countries • The Czech Republic has joined the concept of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

Development Centre Czech ODA per sector (2005) Educational Sector - other relevant activities • Non-priority countries – stand-alone projects based on a clear demand from the partner country, approx. 25 % of all ODA bilateral project funds (2005-2006) allocated for non-priority countries • Scholarship Programme (approx. 4 mil. EUR in 2006) • Development & Global Education in CZ – a grant scheme for NGOs to promote DE/GE Issues and Public Awareness Raising (approx. 400 000,- EUR in 2006) • Cooperation with the Ministry of Education – non-formal, based on opinion and ideas exchange between various stakeholders / experts
