  4. 3. Prepare the Water With the faucet on the left side of the sink, turn on the HOTwater. Let the water run for a little bit to warm up. Once the water is hot, add a little bit of coldwater so you don’t burn your self. Remember: COLDwater = Sleepy germs HOTwater = Dead germs

  5. 4. Get your tools In order to wash dishes properly you will need some tools. So, while the water is warming up , get the following items from your kitchen: • Dish pan (located under the sink) • Dish Rack (located under the sink 3.Dish soap (located under the sink) 4. Wash Rag (small) 5. Dish Towel (large)

  6. 5. Fill the Dishpan Place the dish rack in the left side of the sink. Place the dish pan in the right side of the sink and add a small amount of dish soap in the bottom. Turn the bottle upside down over the dishpan and count to 3. This should be enough soap. DO NOT SQUEEZE THE BOTTLE! Next, fill up the dish pan with your hot water. Once the dish pan is full turn the water off and move the faucet to the left side of the sink.

  7. 6. Ready to Wash We are now ready to wash. First, pick up a plate and rinse off any extra stuff. Be sure to do this on the left side of the sink, so we don’t get the dishwater dirty. Next, put the dirty dish in the soapy dishpan.

  8. 7. Wash the Dish Take your dish rag and wet it with the soapy water. With the dish under water, scrub the dish all over with the rag. Be sure to get the top, bottom and all of the sides. 9. 8. Rinse the Dish Be sure to rinse all of the soap suds off of the dish using HOTwater and place it in the dish rack. Be sure to rinse off all of the soap. Soap can make you sick just like germs. You know what that means……..

  10. A TRIP TO THE BATHROOM!

  11. The Dish Rack Once you have washed and rinsed your dish, it is a good idea to put it in the dish rack. The dish rack will allow extra water to drip into the sink while you wash the other dishes.

  12. 9. Dry the Dishes After you have washed all of your dishes and placed them in the dish rack, it is time to start drying. With your dish towel, dry all of the extra water off of the dish. If you put the dish away wet, new germs can make their way on to your dishes. A dry dish is a happy dish.

  13. 10. Put the Dish Away Now that your dish is clean and dry, put it back where it goes. This way, you know where it is the next time you want to use it.
