Summary: The Challenge: • In October 2011 Clydebank College piloted the use of an Apple IPad2 to use in the curriculum areas Beauty Therapy, Sports and Health Care. • These areas where identified as they could share resources, reducing the cost of purchasing high quality material and allowing the latest technology to be introduced into the classroom. Increase the use of modern technology in the classroom. Utilise varied technology building on and up skilling both staff and learners. Engage learners more effectively.

Amazing Apps! “made the class more interesting than reading from a book” “it was an up-to-date technology” “it would be better if there was more than one available so it could be used in smaller groups” “makes a big visual impression in my class” “easy to operate” “It illustrated all the important features for most of the systems and the ability to manipulate the image was great” What do the learners and staff think? • After 3 months staff and learners where asked to reflect on their use of the Ipad by the Learner Feedback Assistant at the College.

  5. Amazing Apps! Impact • The Ipad and Apps has had a great impact on teaching and learning for these units. • Learners are engaged with modern technology. • Contributed to an increase in staff engagement with current e-learning methods. • Overall great fun for staff and learners.

  6. Amazing Apps! Getting it connected to the network – I.T may not want an Apple product on the network. When connecting it to the whiteboard you may have to unplug the connector so the board picks it up correctly. The Apple VGA connector will cost £25 form Apple – shop around. Problems
