Anticipated Timeline – Next Generation Sunshine State Standards • April 17, 2009: completion of draft • April 22- June 17, 2009: • Online public review • Regional public meetings • National expert reviews • July 24-26,2009: draft revision based on input • July 1-31, 2009: DOE final editing • August 2009: copies provided to BOE • October 2009: State adoption
S.B. 1809 SSS Requirement • The language arts standards must also identify significant literary genres and authors that encompass a comprehensive range of historical periods.
Some Revision Options • Use 2007 LA SSS Standards as blueprint and revise • Use the earlier March 2006 draft as blueprint and revise • Use NDP English and Communication Standards as blueprint and revise • Begin a completely new draft
