What Makes LD Different? • Should the United States treat violent juveniles as it treats adult offenders? • LD resolution : • In the United States, juveniles charged with violent felonies ought to be treated as adults in the criminal justice system. • Policy resolution: • In the United States, it should be the policy of the criminal justice system to proseccute juveniles charged with violent felonies through the criminal justice system. NX • Open with a strong question you have pre-written • Go down the flow OR hit weakness in their case • Yes and No questions, avoid open-ended ones? • Stand next to your opponent, look at judge • Make notes of concessions and contradictions. • Ask why as a follow-up when you sense a weakness in your opponents reply. NC • Deliver your NC • First 3 minutes or so, give your case • Last 4 minutes or so attack their case, going down the flow or hitting weakness • ALWAYS attack the VC and do so comparatively, unless you have the same one or a very similar one • End by saying “I now stand ready for cross examination.” No Limits Debate Camp
