  1. The 10pm Question Kate De Goldi

  2. Hmm... The 10pm Question is a novel about a young boy who worries...a lot! To worry about things is normal. You would be surprised what some people worry about! Post box activity: Post a ‘worry’ you have. It will be anonymous. It can be about anything but be mindful not to name names or put down your peers. Next step: You will work in a team to give advice to the writer of the worry, kind of like on ‘Sticky TV.’ Think about how you can reassure the writer about their worry and give them some advice on how to address the issue. Discuss as a team and then present your advice back to the class. One person needs to read the worry. You all have to take turns at addressing the worry.

  3. What’s it about? Look closely at this image and try to predict what the novel might be about. List the symbols used in the image. What might they represent? List the colours used in the image. Could they have some symbolic importance? What might that be? The novel is about a quiet and anxious young boy called Frankie and his relationship with his family, most notably his mother who suffers from a phobia. Define the word ‘phobia.’ Now make your prediction about the story. Extension: Here is the opening line of the story. Try writing your version of the opening paragraph. Use the Wordle to help.
