Words you need to know… • Credit---Official certification that a student has completed a course. At BGHS, we have whole (1) credit courses and half (1/2) credit courses. • Semester---One of the two divisions of an academic year. 1st semester--the start of school to winter break (August – December). 2nd semester--after winter break until the end of the year (January – May) • Prerequisite—What is required before you can take a class • Transcript---A student’s academic record. • Core Courses—Academic courses recognized by the NCAA Clearinghouse • No—We will not, and you will not

Grade Point AverageClass Rank • A temporary GPAis figured at the end of each year and a final one is done during the senior year. • Rank in class is determined by the numerical grade point average. • The final averagesof all courses are counted in figuring the numerical GPA. • The student receives a decimal GPA based on a 4.0 scale with the following values assigned A=4 B=3 C=2 D=1 F=0
