Moving Forward … • Provide professional learning based on “need” data (not about time – service and priorities) • Follow the IAPDM • Embed Iowa Core content into all pd events
Moving Forward … • Build the capacity of LEA teams/staff/etc. so we can release the responsibility to them • Explicitly work with LEA staff during workshop/workplace pd events to be descriptive about GEI/RTI/IDM • Maintain and support best practices in an effective and efficient manner (specific consultants attending leadership team meetings for specific purposes – strategic placement of consultants)

Literacy Team Plans for 2011-12 Goals: • Closing the achievement gap in the area of literacy • Alignment of all literacy initiatives to IC, IPDM, General Education Intervention processes • Balance of building/district wide Professional Development and working in classrooms with teachers • Focus work on building/district priorities and agency priority areas • Build capacity in LEAs for leadership and professional learning around evidence based practices
How Will We Get There? • Provide professional development (curriculum, instruction, and assessment) that is aligned to IC, GEI, and IAPDM and focuses on capacity building within the LEA • Provide agency wide professional development opportunities to AEA and LEA staff • Effective Reading Interventions • SCR • Literacy 101 and 201 (possible pilot of online course) • CBE Reading Course for Teachers • Scale up of literacy instructional rounds process • Offer the opportunity first to schools/districts that participated in literacy teacher academy the last two years • Train the trainer model • Building capacity for the LEA to sustain these practices over time through job embedded modeling, coaching, and collaboration

Literacy Support Deployment Plan • Two teams (one north, one south) working collaboratively to provide supports to schools • Teams include individuals with both elementary and secondary experience and/or expertise • Identify individual contact person from each of the two teams for each district (i.e. one point of contact for support and services) • Supports and services are directly aligned to agency and district priorities (prioritization of the work)
