  3. Steps • Take apart the Electric Hair Trimmer. • Identify all the subsystems. • Draw the assembly diagram on the lab notebook.

  4. Observations • The parts inside cost less than 5 dollars. • The hair trimmer is not at all a complicated machine. • Many things can be achieved with a simple electric motor. • The Simplicity of the design makes it acsessible.

  5. Conclusion • One can learn many things from dissecting a machine. • Most things are not as complicated as they seem. • The best design is the simplest design that accomplishes its purpose.
