What Does It All Mean? We know more about bystander behavior as a result of Darley and Latané’s research. But we have ignored other aspects of group behavior, including the helping that does occur, as it did with Kitty Genovese. This “parable” defines the focus of group behavior on the pathology of groups, not its positive aspects (Manning, Levine, & Collins, 2007).
