Seedfolks Narrative Assessment • Your assessment for this novel study is to create a narrative “chapter” in the style of Seedfolks based on your life. • You will want to begin thinking about what sort of information or events you want to talk about in your chapter. If you’re stuck, look back at your journal entries. Maybe one of those prompts could help you decide what will be in your chapter. • Today, we’ll focus on the easy part though: the cover.
Seedfolks Chapter Cover Page • The front of your cover page should include: • Your first and last name as the title • A picture (it can be a self-portrait or just something that represents you) • Any additional decorations • The back of your cover page should include: • The compliments you received from your classmates (you can choose whether you want to glue them all down or just your top favorites)
Seedfolks Narrative Assessment • What did each of the chapters in the novel have in common? • What were some details or elements that were included in character’s story?
Seedfolks Narrative Assessment Rough Draft • Narrative “chapters” should be 1 ½ to 3 pages long • Your narrative can be about any event that has happened in your life. • Your ending should convey a sense of belonging and acceptance (think about events that made you stronger, braver, better, smarter, or feel accepted). • If you’re stuck, look through your journal entries or re-read a chapter in the novel. • Indent all paragraphs. • Punctuate dialogue correction. • Example: Ms. Wong said, “If your dialogue is punctuated wrong, I will be very sad!” “Okay, we will write perfect dialogue,” replied the students. • Double space lines so there is room for editing and revising.
Seedfolks Narrative Assessment Final Draft • Put your full heading on the left • First and last name • Date • Class period • Final drafts may be typed or hand-written
