  2. Islam iscomplete and perfect. Allah tells us in the Quran “This day I have completed your Religion for you, and I have perfected My favor upon you, and I am pleased with Islam as a Religion for you.” (Quran 5:3)

  3. The Prophet has told us to, “Beware of newly invented matters in the religion, for every newly invented matter is an innovation, and every innovation is astray.” (Muslim) Bidah destroys the Sunnah and leads to the Hellfire .

  4. Definition: Bidah can be defined as innovation or newly invented matters. When we speak of Bidah or innovation in Islam we are not referring to technological or scientific advancements in worldly matters we are referring to newly invented matters into the religion and worship by which people seek to draw near to Allah. What is Bidah

  5. The Prophet separated religious matters from worldly matters in regards to innovation and Bidah. The Prophet said, “Whenever I command you to do something related to religion, obey. And if I command you something about earthly matters, act on your own (experience) and (do remember) I am a human being.” (Muslim) The pollination of date palm trees is a scientific innovation

  6. The Prophet said “Leave me as I leave you, for the people who were before you were ruined because of their questions and their differences over their prophets. So, if I forbid you to do something, then keep away from it. And if I order you to do something, then do of it as much as you can.” (Bukhari)

  7. Bidah can be further defined as not only adding to, but also omitting, taking away, or prohibiting matters in the religion with the belief that doing so will bring you closer to Allah. “O you who believe, do not prohibit what Allah has made lawful for you, and do not transgress. Verily Allah does not love those who transgress the limits.” (Quran 5:87) Allah says,

  8. The Prophet said, “By Allah, I am more submissive to Allah and more afraid of Him than you; yet I fast and break my fast, I do sleep and I also marry women. So he who does not follow my tradition in religion, is not from me (not one of my followers).” (Bukhari)

  9. “I have not left anything that will bring you closer to Allah and distance you from the Hellfire, except that I have commanded you with it. And I have not left anything that will bring you closer to the Hellfire and distance you from Allah except that I have forbid you from it.” (Ahmad) The Prophet said,

  10. Allah (swt) says, “Surely they who deviate from the right way concerning Our communications are not hidden from Us. What! is he then who is cast into the fire better, or he who comes safe on the day of resurrection? Do what you like, surely He sees what you do.” (Quran 41:40) Hellfire

  11. Two conditions must be met: • The question of “how do we recognize a Bidah?” is a very important question because Allah will not accept an action until two conditions are fulfilled: • a. That it be done sincerely for His sake seeking His face in paradise. • b. And that it be righteous, and it cannot be righteous until it is in conformity to the Sunnah not in contradiction to it. Therefore, everything that contradicts the Sunnah, be it in actions, sayings or beliefs even if this comes from the opinion of a scholar is Bidah.  How do we recognizeBidah

  12. Signs that something maybe a Bidah • A sign that something may be a Bidah are if certain conditions are placed upon an action. Such as, an act of worship must be done: • a. a certain way. • b. a certain number of times • c. at a specific time • d. in a specific place. way number time place

  13. Sign 1: A certain way • 1. If a person worships Allah with an act of worship that has not been legislated then it will not be accepted. The act of worship must be in agreement with the laws of the Quran and the Sunnah in regards to the type. • 2. Wudu is an act of worship you have to perform it the way Allah and His Prophet have legislated. You can not change it. You can't wash your feet then your head then your mouth this is innovation. • This is the first way to recognize Bidah.

  14. Sign 2: A Certain Number of Times • A second way to recognize if something is a Bidah(innovation) is if you are told to do something a certain number of times. • Anytime someone says you must do an act of worship a certain amount of times, and that it is obligatory upon you, they must produce their evidence.

  15. Sign 3: Specific Time It is notpermissible to specify an act of worship to a time that has not been specified by the Sharee'ah. Bidah

  16. The innovators are not like those who follow the Sunnah. The innovators follow their own desires Allah (saw) tells us in the Quran: “And if they answer you not, then know that what they follow is their lusts. And who goes farther astray than he who follows his lust without guidance from Allah? Verily, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing folk.” (Quran 28:50) Sign 4: A specific place

  17. Ask What is your Evidence? Stick to the Quran and Sunnah. And
