Example Prompts • Describea family celebration that has special meaning for you. • Example Thesis- A family celebration that has special meaning for me is Christmas because my family spends time together, eats great food, and shows how much they care. • Describe the issues that led to the Civil War. • Example Thesis- The Civil War began as a result of the economic differences between the North and South, their opinions on state rights versus federal rights, and their views on slavery.
Example Prompts • Explainthe problems, both personal and societal, that result from obesity. • Sample Thesis: Obesity is a problem because it lowers self-esteem, lowers life-expectancy, and increases health care costs. • Your new job requires that you move to a different city. Explain the steps you will take to prepare for this move. • Sample Thesis: If I were moving to a new city for a job, I would scout out different neighborhoods, carefully select an apartment, explore important places in the new area, and research services that I will need.
