Charging for Classes Reasons we began charging Cost recovery philosophy
Partnering We partnered with Roanoke County Parks and Recreation The way it was before: The library taught its technology classes and Roanoke County taught their own technology classes. These classes were sometimes very similar. The way it is now: The library teaches most of the technology classes.
Partnering Our classes are advertised in the Roanoke County Recreation Family Fun Guide We split the money we make with the library keeping 60% and Parks and Recreation getting 40%
Partnering We started using the same sign up software as Parks and Recreation (We use Class 7.0 SP1 created by The Active Network, Ltd. ) With the software, patrons can sign up from home Reports can be run on class attendance and the amount of money collected
Partnering The Roanoke Valley Computer club uses our computer lab for training They help us by giving our patrons another option for classes
Looking Ahead Expanding class offerings Finding community improvement opportunities Reaching out to the business community
