Getting Involved in Public Policy!Advocating through the Legislative ProcessAnnie Toro, J.D.Wednesday, November 30 at 3:30 pmLife Cycle Institute, Room 102 Annie Toro is the Senior Legislative and Federal Affairs Officer working on children, youth and family issues at the American Psychological Association. In this presentation she will review federal legislative and appropriations processes, which provide a vehicle for communicating important research findings to congressional offices involved in public policy decision making. Topics will include guidelines for extracting policy implications of research findings and translating and disseminating conclusions to public policy arenas, where they can inform public health decisions. Also, Ms. Toro will discuss ideas for undergraduate and graduate students to become engaged in the public policy advocacy process.
