  3. Your house is in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Virginia Beach is a city in Virginia.

  4. Like you, there are many special people who are from Virginia!

  5. George Washington was from Virginia. He was our first president.

  6. Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd US President. He was from Virginia too!

  7. Pocahontas was from Virginia. She was a famous Indian who helped people live in Virginia long ago.

  8. Many things grow in Virginia. This map shows things that grow in Virginia.

  9. Farmers in Virginia grow corn, apples, hay, oats and wheat.

  10. Virginia is also famous for raising cows and pigs. Some cows are grown for their milk and others for their meat.

  11. Virginia’s waters are home to fish, crabs and oysters.

  12. Virginia has many special symbols. One symbol for Virginia is our state bird, the cardinal.

  13. Virginia’s state tree is the dogwood tree.

  14. Like the state tree, our state flower is the dogwood.

  16. Virginia is a very special state. I am glad I live and go to school here.
