Anemia What is Anemia? A decrease in the normal amount of hemoglobin and red blood cells circulating in the bloodstream, causing a reduction in the supply of oxygen to the tissues.Chain:Not enough iron available hemoglobin production is limited affects the production of red blood cells Due to the lack of sufficient iron Therefore, the body needs more iron to make hemoglobin
Anemia • Effects of Anemia • - Red blood cells are needed to carry oxygen throughout the body • Anemia results in less oxygen reaching the cells and tissues, affecting their function • More information: • Anemia doesn't develop immediately • Person progresses through stages of iron deficiency: • ~ begins with iron depletionin which the amount of iron in the body is reduced but the amount of iron in the red blood cells remains constant. • ~ If iron depletion isn't corrected, it progresses to iron deficiency, leading to anemia
