DSSDs for Belle2 SVD • DSSDs to install • Specifications Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Large DSSD • Necessary DSSDs • 120 sensors will be installed. • 18 sensors for spare ladders. • Spares for spares • Production history • Pilot production started in 2009. • About 70 DSSDs have been produced with saw dicing. • About 150 DSSD have been produced with laser dicing. • Some DSSD have been used for evaluations and beam tests. http://research.kek.jp/group/svd/DSSD/SVD4/production-status.html http://research.kek.jp/group/svd/DSSD/SVD4/DSSD-testsheets/xml/ Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Large DSSD • Mechanical samples • We have lots of mechanical sample for ladder assembly test. Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Large DSSD • Production quality Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Large DSSD • Characterization is done in HPK Pilot production Saw dicing Laser dicing Bad strip fraction (5%) = 40 strips Bad strip fraction (1%) = 8 strips Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Large DSSD Some DSSD show larger leak current at higher bias voltage Bias leak current Bias current shown in the last page. Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Large DSSD • Classification of DSSDs based on the bias leakage current at Vbias=200V. Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Large DSSD • Number of bad strips with dielectric error • Bias current at 200 V Pilot production Saw dicing Laser dicing Bad strip fraction (1%) = 12 strips Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Large DSSD • Number of usable DSSDs for ladder production 2013 purchase Delivery (march 2014) Saw dicing Laser dicing Pilot production Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Large DSSD Quality Assurance Plot • 20 DSSDs satisfy “bad strips < 0.5%” • 56 DSSDs satisfy “bad strips < 1%” • 120 DSSDs satisfy “bad strips < 3%” or “<2.5% (saw dicing included) Number of DSSDs whose number of bad strips is less than X 4 % Laser + saw dicing Laser dicing only 3 % Specification: Bad strip fraction (5%) = 40 strips 2 % Layer 4+5+6 (120 DSSD) 1 % S Layer 4+5 (56 DSSD) Layer 4 (20 DSSD) (X) Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Large DSSD Dielectric failures (10 % of all failures) • Error analysis • DSSD strips with dielectric failures should not be wire-bonded because APV25 is weak to DC current flowing into the analog inputs. • Strips with bad implants should be bonded to APV25. • If you find problems afterwards, you can ignore them in data analysis. • The error due to dielectric failure is 10 % of the bad strips. Classification of bad strips (ID>26) Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Large DSSD Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Slim DSSD • Layer 3 DSSD package Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Slim DSSD • 14+4 sensors are used for installation and spare ladders. • 24 sensors have been ordered. • Delivery: • End of July: Two mechanical samples were delivered and sent to Melbourne. • End of September: I confirmed HPK at end of August. All DSSDs will be delivered to KEK at end of September. • Most of them will be sent to Melbourne. • A DSSD should be shipped to HEPHY to check the performance. • 27 Sept 2013, 24 DSSDs were delivered to KEK. Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Slim DSSD • I-V curve of each DSSD • Leak current / area is smaller than that of large DSSDs. Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Slim DSSD • Total bad strips on p side and n side out of 768 strips/side. • Bias current at 120 V Bad strip fraction (1%) = 7 strips Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Slim DSSD • Number of bad strips (p+n): All kinds / dielectric only • Bias current at 200 V. Bad strip fraction (1%) = 14 strips Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
Slim DSSD Quality Assurance Plot • 14 DSSDs satisfy “bad strips < 0.6 %” • 20 DSSDs satisfy “bad strips < 0.7 %” Number of DSSDs whose number of bad strips is less than X Bad strip fraction (1%) = 14 strips 0.5 % Layer 3 (14 DSSD) S (X) Quality of HPK DSSD (Tsuboyama, KEK)
