  2. Who we are… • Laura Dooley –Taylor has been a Library Media Specialist at Cumberland School in District 62 for 3 years and a Media Specialist for 6 years. • Heidi Steigerwald has been a Library Media Specialist at Forest School in District 62 for 5 years.

Goals for this presentation • To educate teachers on multicultural literature and resources for assessment strategies for ELL students. • To inform teachers about Media Center support and ELL success. • To provide an interactive online resource community to promote dialog and discussion on current ELL topics of research.

Listening Assessment Rubrics & Print Materials: • WIDA rubrics- Strand of Model Performance Indicators for Listening • 50 Strategies for Teaching English Language Learners by Adrienne Herrell 428.24071 HER Online resources: • Randall's ESL Cyber Listening Lab - this is a library of online listening quizzes • Storyonline- SAG Actors read stories aloud and students can follow along with the captions.

  6. Speaking Assessment Online resources: • “Teaching Ideas.” Retrieved Online from http://www.teachingideas.co.uk 28 November 2011. Provides a list of great ways to engage ELLs in speaking activities in your classroom such as the use of puppets, drama, talking books, and story cubes. When you click on the link educators find an appropriate age range and lesson plan for the activity. What makes Kathy’s website so appealing is that she includes a number of multimedia, Library Media, and professional development rubrics ready to print out and implement.
