This intercalated year was for me. I wanted to Intercalation Leeds’ artistic side I visited nearby galleries changed my EXPLORE 10 learnt how to willow weave Laura Shepherd LIFE Societies at Leeds 11 As I sat sipping my third revision coffee of the morning, the newly graduated spilled into the union. It was July, days before my third year exam re-sit and my insides were flooded with nerves. I climbed! I attendedlife drawing classes I rented the university’s outdoor centre at Selsidefor a class trip. I learnt how to carve 12 13 Back to Medicine 5 2 I re-learnt forgotten skills with the circus society I did more in my intercalating year than I could possibly fit onto one page! Intercalating at Leeds has given me new knowledge about health inequalities and the time to be more involved in advocacy. I have learnt new creative skills but I have also developed as a person. I watched proud parents smile while my head filled with questions... “What was I doing with my life? Could I even be a doctor?”... I reflected. No matter how hard it was, I wanted to be a doctor. I slowly wrote, remembering each word... I campaignedagainst health inequalities with Medsin 6 7 My outlook has changed, I am bursting with energy! Those questions this time last year have been answered. With new skills learnt this year I know I’ll be a great doctor and I know I have the ability to graduate not only once, but twice! 3 I’m also helping to set up a national student society to protect the NHS 4 I passed the re-sit and I arrived back at Leeds University for my intercalating year... 8 14 9
