In the warm Caribbean Waters lived Oliver a Caribbean shark pup and his mother Emma. Emma was an educator in a pup school and Oliver was the popular pup in school. In town they were known as the friendly family.
In the midst of a beautiful day, parents alarmed start picking up the pups from school. The calm waters were starting to make drastic movements shifting everyone left to right. A Tsunami was about to take place in the very waters where nothing but beautiful memories had been created.
Emma rushed to get Oliver from his classroom. • “Mom, what is going on Im scared?” • “Oliver, Im going to ask you to close your eyes and hold on to me as hard as you can. What ever happens don’t let go” • Waters shifting them back and forth, flipping them in many directions causing disorientation to both Emma and Oliver. Scratched and bruised Emma wakes up and realizes she had been unconscious for some time.
Scratched and bruised Emma opens her eyes and realizes that she had been unconscious for some time. She looks around and sees Oliver holding on to her still. • “Mom are you ok?” • “Where are we, what happened?” • After inspecting Oliver and checking that everything was ok, they decide to explore the new waters. • Its beautiful, said Emma • “Wow, look at that mom. Can we live here? • Emma knew that going back to their old town would be impossible. Everything had been destroyed. • “Yes Oliver, this can be our new home.” • “Alright!”
Oliver starts school and thinks that his new beginning will be smooth sailing but in the new waters things are a little bit different. • Walden- “Hey, what are you doing here, new boy? You are not from here. I can tell because you look different. ” • Oliver- “What do you mean? Im a shark just like you.” • Oliver start to look around and soon realizes that Walden was right, he didnt look like any other shark. All the excitement he had, had turned into misery. He kept on remembering his old friends and his hometown. He wanted to go home. The day dragged on until it finally was over. Emma waited for Oliver in the school entrance just as she had said. • Emma-“Well, how was your day Oliver?” • Oliver-“Mom can we go home now? Im starting to miss my old town, I don’t like it here any more.” • Emma- “Oliver I have always taught you to see everyone equally and never to look past personality. This should not stop you from being yourself, don’t you forget that.”
Emma- “Oliver, I explained to you that we cant go back home. The town was destroyed, nobody lives there anymore. Please tell me what happened today at school.” Oliver- “Ok, everybody kept on looking at me weird. I would try talking to people and they would just swim away. I tried to ask questions and nobody would answer. This shark came along and said that I looked different and I was being made fun off. Mom why do I look different?
The next day Oliver remembers what his mother said to him and makes the conscious decision to stand up for himself. • Oliver- “Hey Walden, I just wasn’t to say to you that I come from a different place. Where I live sharks look just like me. If you want you can go over to my house and we can talk about where I lived and what I am. • Oliver went home that day and told Emma about what he had done. Emma got the great Idea to maybe introduce themselves to the town.
The community gathers up in Town Hall anxiously awaiting for the meeting to start • Emma- “We are all gathered here today so that we can all get to know each other.” • Emma explains to the town how it was that she and Oliver ended up in their waters . She explains to the community the type of species they are and answers any questions that the community has for them.
In return, a member of the community goes up to the front of the crowd and start telling Emma and Oliver about the species that they are. Soon the town is sharing stories with both of them. In the end the community welcomes them with open fins. Emma becomes a teacher once again, in a pup school. Oliver becomes the new pup that everyone wants to hang out with.
