DAP Surveys • Adapted from the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets • Students take in fall and spring • Awareness of these assets and how students feel protect them from risky behaviors and promote positive behaviors in the community
KWL Charts • What you know – what you want to know – what you learned • Youth are able to take the lessons into their own hands • Also staff use these as a reflective tool on lessons taught
Youth Advisory • Run for office – campaign! • Voting Day – 2 winners per classroom • Within the ones elected, they vote on president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer • Monthly meetings on family nights, classroom activities, and field trips • “Voice of the program” – they bring the concerns of fellow classmates to the meeting
Clubs, Clubs, Clubs • Each student is in 2 clubs, meeting weekly • Facilitated by staff, led by students • President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer • Brainstorm ideas, budget supplies, complete projects • Media, Lego, Gardening, Art, Fitness, APL Club
