CPT Examination • Twice a year in June and December • Appeared or passed in 12th standard examination and registered for CPT at least 2 months prior to the first day of the month in which the CPT exam is scheduled to be held. • Students appearing in 12th class examination in March 2010 will be eligible to appear in CPT examination to be held in June 2010. • There is also provision for On-line CPT Examination.
CPT Examination • For December 2009 examination, students should register for CPT course with the Board of Studies of the Institute on or before 1st October 2009. • CPT Prospectus containing registration form is available for Rs.100/ from the regional and branch offices of the Institute all over India.
CPT Examination • After getting registered for CPT course, students are required to fill in CPT examination form separately. • For CPT June/December examination, Information Brochure cum Application Form costing Rs.600/ (inclusive of examination fee) would be available from all regional and branch offices of ICAI in the month of April/October onwards. • CPT exam Notification/Announcement may be looked for in Newspapers/www.icai.org
Pattern of Objective Type Questions • One question having four alternative answers. • Fill in the blanks having four alternative answers. • Small paragraph of two-three lines, followed by a question having four alternative answers. • Numerical having four alternative answers (wherever applicable).
To Qualify as a Chartered Accountant • Enrol for Common Proficiency Test (CPT), after passing Class 10 examination • Appear and pass in CPT after appearing in (10+2). However, you should pass both CPT and 10+2 before registering for Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) • Enrol for Group I or Group II or for both Group I and Group II of IPCC • Successfully complete 9 months of Study Course from the date of IPCC registration • Successfully complete Orientation Course of one week spanning 35 hours and covering topics, such as personality development, communication skills, office procedures, business environment, general commercial knowledge, etc.
To Qualify as a Chartered Accountant • Successfully complete 100 hours Information Technology Training (ITT) • Appear and pass Group I as well as Group II of Integrated Professional Competence Examination (IPCE) Group I comprises of four papers as under: (1) Accounting (2) Business Laws, Ethics and Communication (3) Cost Accounting and Financial Management (4) Taxation. Group II consists of three papers:(5) Advanced Accounting(6) Auditing and Assurance (7) Information Technology and Strategic Management.Register as Articled Assistant for a period of 3 years, on passing either Group I or both Groups of IPCE.
To Qualify as a Chartered Accountant • Appear in CA Final Examination during the last 6 months of 3 years of articled training • Pass Group I as well as Group II of CA Final Examination • Complete 3 years period of articled training • Successfully complete the Course on General Management and Communication Skills (15 days) • Enrol as a member of ICAI and be eligible to designate yourself as “Chartered Accountant”
To become an Accounting Technician (Accounting Technician Course ATC) • Enrol for Common Proficiency Test (CPT) after passing Class 10 exam • Appear and pass in CPT after appearing in (10+2). However, you should pass both CPT and 10+2 before registering for ATC. • Enrol for ATC • Successfully complete 9 months of Study Course from the date of registration for the ATC • Successfully complete Orientation Course of one week spanning 35 hours and covering topics, such as personality development, communication skills, office procedures, business environment, general commercial knowledge etc.

To become a CA, even after becoming Accounting Technician • Enrol for Group II of Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) • Register as an Articled Assistant for a period of 3 years • Pass Group II of IPCE • Appear in CA Final Examination during the last 6 months of 3 years of articled training • Pass both Groups of CA Final Examination • Complete 3 years period of articled training • Successfully complete the Course on General Management and Communication Skills (15 days) • Enrol as a member of ICAI to be eligible to designate yourself as “Chartered Accountant”.

100 Hours Information Technology Training (ITT) • The training components would focus on application softwares relevant for accounting and auditing. • In addition, knowledge of Electronic Spread Sheet, Data base Management System, Web-technology and System Security and Maintenance are strengthened. • The ITT has been linked to theoretical knowledge imparted through Information Technology subject under Group II of IPCC. The training synchronizes theoretical knowledge with practical training.
100 Hours Information Technology Training (ITT) • The 100 Hours ITT would commence after a student gets registered for IPCC. • The 100 hours ITT is conducted through Regional Councils and Branches of the ICAI for which a separate fee is charged. • The 100 hours ITT is moduled in 20/40 days @ 5/3 hours per day on full time basis.
Pursue B. Com and M. Com. Courses • To facilitate pursuance of graduation and post-graduation courses by the students, ICAI has entered into MOUs with the following Universities: (i) Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi.(ii) Netaji Subhas Open University, Kolkata.(iii) Guru Jambeshwar University, Hisar.(iv) Bharathiar University, Coimbatore for B.Com/BBA, M.Com/MBA.
