  1. Workshop on Monitoring & Data for Regional Analysis Chandler, AZ May 15-16, 2008

  2. WRAP changing – Strategic Plan 2008-12 • Regional Haze • Implementation plans being completed this year • Review and approval next step • Next milestone is 2012 mid-course check-in – to make sure emissions and visibility data are “on course” for 2018 goals • Ozone standard • 2012 attainment date • Concerns about regional contributions to air quality • PM2.5 and PM10/PMcoarse standards • Nitrogen sources/emissions, measurements, atmospheric chemistry, and deposition • Mercury emissions, transport, deposition

  3. Purpose of this workshop • Address plans for conducting monitoring and applying those data for the 2009-12 time frame - monitoring methods, network operations, and data analysis activities; • Review completeness and gaps in ozone, PM, haze, mercury, and nitrogen deposition data • Identify opportunities for integrated applications of monitoring data: • Tracking improvements in visibility/reductions in regional haze; • Attainment status - analyses of source regions and areas violating health standards; • Quantifying welfare/ecosystem impacts for remote/rural areas; and • Needed analyses of impacts and sources. • Discuss needs, time frames, and costs for tracking and trends • Determine monitoring and analysis needs to support regional analyses

  4. Workshop Results • Draft Workshop Report in late May - identifying key deliverables and projects needed in 2009-12 timeframe • Workshop support from WRAP staff and TSS project team
