BEST TYPES OF YOGA FOR PREGNANCY Expectant mothers' bodies are unique, so there is no one-size-fits-all class. If you are expecting, prenatal yoga is an excellent option. Yoga for pregnant women is taught with the changing bodies of a pregnant woman in mind. They are slower paced than typical yoga classes and are gentler. We find that pregnant women are most interested in our Y6 Flow and Y6 Stretch yoga classes. No matter what type of yoga practice you pursue, you will have to make modifications. BEST YOGA POSES FOR EXPECTING MOTHERS As you progress through your trimesters, you will be able to practice different poses. Women are advised to avoid deep twists and forward folds during the first few months of pregnancy. Your body needs time to adjust to all of the changes taking place during this time. These two poses are okay once you have passed through your first trimester, so long as you don't overextend. In preparation for labour, the body releases a hormone called Relaxin that helps ligaments stretch. Pregnant yoga classes for women are often very flexible. Do not overstretch, as this is especially important. It may result in problems after delivery. It is also important to note that you shouldn't lie on your stomach as soon as it starts to feel uncomfortable.
HOW LONG CAN I PRACTICE YOGA WHILE PREGNANT? Each person has a different yoga practice. The key to extending your practice into pregnancy is to find what works for you and your body. Listen to what your body is telling you. It may be easier or harder to practice certain positions during pregnancy than before.
