Requirements AcademicContent Standards Define what students are expected to know and be able to do (Science Teaching and Learning to Standards, p 12, 136 and 138)
Requirements Benchmark Standard In science, a student’s academic progress can be checked at or about grades 3, 5, 8, and 10. (April 2009 - Science Standards Review and Revision)

Requirements Please be aware that U.S. Department of Education requires that Oregon review its performance levels for all grades in the content areas of Mathematics, Reading/Literature and Science. These performance levels will be adopted by the State Board by February, 2007 and will be applied retroactively to all tests administered during the 2006-2007 school year. A school may therefore have more students designated as "Not Yet Met" after this review occurs.

Tools The Lexile Framework™ for Reading • An educational tool that links text and readers under a common metric-- Lexiles • Characterizes reader with a measure and text with a measure • Allows educators to forecast the level of comprehension a reader is expected to experience with a particular text
