  3. THE BLESSINGS OF A GODLY HOME A GODLY HOME SERVES ONE MASTER “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Matthew 6:24

  4. BLESSINGS OF A SPIRITUAL FAMILY God Created A Spiritual Family • He is the loving Father---I John 3:1-2 • Jesus the Christ was given as our Older Brother for our salvation --- Hebrews 2:9-13 • The Holy Spirit was sent so we could be born into His family --- Titus 3:4-7; Romans 8:15-17

  5. BLESSINGS OF A SPIRITUAL FAMILY Following The Instructions From God’s Word Sets The Tone For Family Life I John 4:7-21 I Corinthians 13:1-7

  6. THE HOME AS GOD PLANNED God Created The Physical Family • He instituted marriage --- Matt. 19:4-6 • Designed it for life, with only one exception --- Matt. 19:9 GOD HATES DIVORCE

BLESSINGS OF A GODLY HOME Where Husbands Love Their Wives... • With love and without bitterness, as Christ loved the church --- Col. 3:19; Eph. 5:25-29 • With understanding, honor, tenderness and as fellow heirs --- I Peter 3:7 • Being the head and serving as the head both spiritually and physically.

FAITHFUL & LOVING HUSBANDS HOW? • Communicating---Setting up time (make an appointment with your wife) to spend alone and talking through issues. • Studying--- Being responsible to set up and lead the family in Bible Study on a regular basis. • Taking responsibility --- Working with the wife to see what is needed to make the household run as God wants it to run SPIRITUALLY and physically.

BLESSINGS OF A GODLY HOME Where Wives Respond To Their Husbands... • With love and obedience --- Titus 2:4-5 • With submission, as the church is to submit to Christ --- Col. 3:18; Eph. 5:22-24 • By communicating, not just talking! • By humbling herself • By working with the husband as the helper to make sure the family household runs smooth spiritually and physically. How?

  14. BLESSINGS OF GODLY PARENTS Fathers Teaching & Training Their Children... • In the nurture (training) and admonition of the Lord--- Eph. 6:4b • With proper discipline --- Prov. 13:24; Prov. 19:18; Prov. 29:17; Heb. 12:7-10 • Without provoking them to wrath --- Col. 3:21; Eph. 6:4a

  15. BLESSINGS OF GODLY PARENTS Fathers Teaching & Training Their Children... To Know God --- I Chronicles 28:9 • Nothing more important in life --- Jeremiah 9:23-24 • Displeasing to God not to know Him --- Judges 2:10; Hosea 4:1, 6; Romans 1:18-28

  17. BLESSINGS OF GODLY PARENTS Fathers Teaching & Training Their Children... To Serve God --- I Chronicles 28:9 • With a loyal heart • With wholehearted devotion • It is our way to show we understand the greatest commandment--- Matthew 22:36-38

To Serve God --- I Chronicles 28:9 • This is the kind of service God expects from all of us today. • God expects this kind of service of elders shepherding the flock --- I Peter 5:1-2 • God expects this in our giving---II Cor. 8:12 and 9:7 • God expects this kind of service to be taught to our children --- Eph. 6:4

BLESSINGS OF GODLY PARENTS How? • The father taking the responsibility God gave him as head of the house to make sure his children were taught and trained to respect and obey God in their speech, actions, dress, social activities, relationships, studying of His word, worship to Him, giving of their time, effort and money to Him. BEING A LIVING EXAMPLE!

BLESSINGS OF GODLY PARENTS Where Mothers Raise Their Children... • By working with their husband in unityas God designed and not going against the leadership of the husband (unless he is violating God’s law). • With love ---Titus 2:4; I Cor. 13 • As homemakers, managers of the home---Titus 2:4; I Timothy 5:14; (Prov. 31:10-31)

  23. BLESSINGS OF A GODLY HOME Where Children Respond To Their Parents... OBSERVING AND LEARNING FROM THE LIVING EXAMPLES THEY HAVE AS GODLY PARENTS! • With obedience---Col. 3:20; Eph. 6:1 • With honor---Eph. 6:2-3; Prov. 31:28 • Without rebellion --- Deut. 21:18

  24. BLESSINGS OF A GODLY HOME A GODLY HOME Is Dedicated To Serving God • Having genuine faith from one generation to another---II Timothy 1:5 • Having a devotion to the Lord that surpasses even devotion to one another --- Mt. 10:37

BLESSINGS OF A GODLY HOME Denver and Mildred Niemeier’s Home I Was Trained Parents dressing modestly Family Bible studies and prayers Our home was opened to all (strangers) and we visited others We went to gospel meetings We never missed a worship service except for illness Parents openly showed affection towards one another and towards their children Others were not talked about in a harmful manner Correction given to help “train” me By Parents Truly Trying To Be Imitators of God... Ephesians 5:1

  33. 'POP' AND MOTHER BLESSINGS OF A GODLY HOME • Out of Three Children All Are Faithful Children of God Who Married Faithful Children of God (The oldest daughter is the wife of an elder. The middle child (daughter) is the wife of a deacon. The youngest child has served as a deacon, an elder and a full time evangelist) • Out of 9 Grandchildren All Are Faithful to God • The Only Great-Grandchild That Is of The Age of Accountability Has Now Become A Faithful Child of God, there are 19 more who will have the opportunity! A HOME WITH GODLY PARENTS
